The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Nalut University is a member of the committee for discussing and evaluating a master's thesis at Al-Zawiya University...
As part of enhancing academic cooperation among Libyan universities, and affirming the scientific and research role that Nalut University plays in serving knowledge and developing political studies, Professor Dr. Elyas Abubakr Al-Barouni, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Nalut University, participated today, Thursday, October 22, 2026, in a committee for discussing and evaluating a master's thesis in the Department of Political Science at Al-Zawiya University, in his capacity as the supervisor and rapporteur of the thesis.
The message submitted by researcher Tarek Salem Ahmed Al-Tayef is titled:
“The Issue of National Security and Its Impact on Shaping Libyan Foreign Policy During the Transitional Period (2011–2026)”
The discussion and evaluation committee was formed by the decision of the President of Al-Zawiya University No. (1113) for the year 2026, consisting of the esteemed professors:
🔹 Prof. Dr. Elyas Abubakr Al-Baroni — Supervisor and Rapporteur, Nalut University.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Fawzi Salem Al-Marnaki — Internal Examiner, University of Zawiya.
🔹 Prof. Dr. Abdul Salam Hamida Ali Atiyah — External Examiner, University of Zintan.
This study gains its importance from its connection to one of the most pressing strategic issues in Libya, which is the problem of national security and its implications for foreign decision-making, in light of the political and security transformations that the country has witnessed since 2011, and the challenges it has imposed on the sovereignty of the state, the stability of its institutions, and its ability to formulate a foreign policy based on the supreme national interests.
The discussion concluded with the acceptance of the thesis and the granting of the researcher the high degree (master's), along with the committee's recommendation to print and publish the thesis at the university's expense, in appreciation of its scientific value and research significance.
This scientific participation reflects the importance of Libyan universities opening up to each other, enhancing integration among higher education institutions, and exchanging academic experiences, which contributes to elevating the level of scientific research and preparing competencies capable of analyzing national and strategic issues with a solid scientific perspective.
Such contributions not only represent an academic presence but also embody the university professor's mission in supervising scientific research, establishing standards of academic quality, and contributing to the construction of knowledge that the state and society need.
Congratulations to researcher Tarek Salem Ahmed Al-Tayef on this well-deserved scientific achievement, with best wishes for further success and prosperity in his academic and research career.
We also appreciate the participation of Professor Dr. Elias Abubakr Al-Barouni, which reflects the academic presence of Nalut University and enhances the status of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science as a contributor to specialized academic research in issues of politics, security, and international relations.
